Shower Door Facts and Questions
Tile Works would like to offer a few important details when it comes to planning for a frameless shower door. The shower construction is an important part of having a successful frameless glass door installation. We recommend at least 1/8" slope on the entry curb that leans in toward the shower floor. Completely flat or backwards leaning curbs could cause water to escape outside of the shower if the shower head spray reaches this area. We can help adjust your existing curb in most situations. Also, Tile Works recommends adding framing, in the wall, in a plumb line up the wall where the door hinges are mounted.
What is the best way to keep my shower glass clean and not cloudy looking?
Invest in a squeegee and run it over the glass panel before you get out. A glass repellent coating will help repel water also. We recommend leaving your shower door open for at least an hour to allow air flow following use.
How wide can you make a shower door?
Recommended size ranges from 26-28" with 30 inches being the largest we could go before having to add a seperate glass panel.
How tall should i make my shower glass door enclosure? We recommend anywhere from 72-78" for most bathrooms.
